I scored
sweetmelodykiss for Snupin Santa, exclaimed delightedly, and promptly embarked on a plan for a fabulous epic spun from two of her prompts.
And then had to abandon it as RL proceeded to jump all over my free time, gleefully proclaiming, "Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!" and other such gems.
So, she got a picture instead, and I gave Snape a bald head, and was in an
agony of nerves over the choice. You see, Snape is nose-eyes-and-hair. Nose-eyes-and-hair, always. Dark eyes, big nose, dark hair. Frightfully dramatic combo. There is no fucking with this. Bald!Snape has done well for himself in fic (and if you haven't read the Snarry classic Home Fries Nazi, what the fuck??), but he was so goddamned ballsy there.
This is Snape who's had his hair removed, not by his choice. It stands, I guess, as something of a symbol. Stripped, if you will, clothes regardless. Snape often seems to be thought of as hiding behind his hair, and so I took it from him. Azkaban, behind them, is monochrome and searchlights. Remus holds Snape in the shadows, soft cloth, concealment. One hand almost covering Snape's head - clutching him, cradling him and covering him. See?
Thought she might well hate it. But, having made the choice, I couldn't bear to cover that vulnerable skull. Remus' hand is so much less significant with hair in the equation! Imagine, please, skin against skin, and the heat building underneath that palm, and thin skin between fingers and bone, the pulse of Remus' first two fingers against the pulse running through the veins in Snape's scalp, the way skin shifts and drags with the friction of fingerprints... Yeah. Couldn't do it.
Not a lot of colour in this one, either - muted, muffled. Again, soft shadows.
It's PG-ish for the evidence of mistreatment, possibly NWS because of Snape's bare back? Remus is more than a little MacGuyverish here. Which. Um. Not *entirely* by accident :). Something light, there, to counteract some of the stuff I couldn't keep from associating with Snape.
And here is the summary I made for the pic:
**
Remus Lupin is a practical man, and has planned his crime well. He dresses himself in dark colours that won't show up in the shadows, and practices until his wandwork is tight; perfect. When it comes to Severus Snape, however, Remus has always lost his sense of reason. Why else would he be watching the clock, waiting to begin the first real attempt to break a man out of Azkaban? Why else, instead of packing a dark blanket layered with dense warming charms, does he choose to transfigure one made from the combined yarn of every woolly jersey ever given to him by Molly Weasley? Some part of him associates these garments with love, warmth, and comfort, and so it is with a shrunken pile of soft rainbow fabric in his pocket that he sets out across the sea.
